The major infrastructure project in the UK aimed for zero incidents as its primary goal.

Background:

One of the key site risks identified early in the planning process was the potential for mud being deposited onto roads from site vehicle wheels, making the roads around the sites dangerous for both site staff and the public.

The health and safety team mapped all the key critical exit points, such as busy roundabouts and junction intersections, and put in place a plan to control the risk through using wheel wash stations.

Wheel wash stations are a proactive and pre-emptive solution that ensures site vehicles do not carry mud onto public roads. By placing wheel wash stations at site egress points, every vehicle can be washed before it leaves the site.

Wheelwash was appointed as a key supplier because we were able to demonstrate high standards of health and safety in both our design and internal processes. This led to the initial order of eight-wheel wash systems.

We were also able to fulfill this order by using ex-rental systems, which lowered the environmental footprint of the project while also delivering tailored solutions for each of the site’s needs.

A mixture of wheel cleaning solutions, including dry ramps, drive-through baths, and 6m Ecowash Extra, were supplied to meet the needs of these sites.

Since the project’s inception, Wheelwash has deployed over 40 wheel wash systems across various sites, helping them establish the highest safety standards.
