Day Group handles over five million tonnes of construction materials each year. The Group supplies aggregates to Builders Merchants and Construction sectors, provides turn-key contracting services, and recycles 1.5 million tonnes of aggregates derived from construction and demolition waste every single year.
Day Group was a contractor for a major infrastructure project in London. To leave the site, HGVs crossed a busy walkway. As one of London’s busiest walkways, any mud or dirt deposited on the walkway from their HGVs would not just be a public nuisance but would also pose a serious safety risk. This means as traffic left the site, there couldn’t ever be any trace of mud, dirt, or dust from the site vehicles.
The client initially requested an Ecobath. However, after this system had been in place for a few months and a site visit from Wheelwash, the team recommended exchanging the system for an Ecowash Extra.
Alison Galley said: “The Ecowash Extra is a fantastic product. It’s like a Rolls-Royce for wheel wash systems. Its performance is unrivaled and carries so many features.
For example, you have complete control over the wash pressure. So in January when it’s wet and dirty onsite, you can run the system at full capacity. But in the drier months, you can reduce the wash pressure. This saves water and power consumption. This is a big tick for sites who operate to the Considerate Constructors Scheme as it will dramatically reduce carbon footprint, but also meet the needs of the public to keep roads immaculate.”
